Are there any hidden consumer “issues”or food safety concerns?
No. The Rextrusion process does not feature any unsafe ingredients or processing methods which consumers perceive as harmful. The additives used in the process are approved by all major international health authorities such as the USFDA and various European authorities, and have been in use in food manufacturing for decades. The process does not require the use of genetically modified or irradiated foods, and may be used with organically farmed ingredients and for producing vegetarian and vegan products. REX’s ingredient declaration complies with EU requirements.
