Are there any gotchas when deploying shared interfaces??
A. Yes. The FWSM uses a single MAC address for all its data interfaces. When sharing those interfaces on a common VLAN, an obvious problem arises due the single MAC address. The FWSM intercepts incoming packets in order to direct them to the appropriate VFW, but this isn’t without caveats. Please consult this doc for more information. You will probably see that we usually do not recommend sharing interfaces.
