Paid ad is expensive, free is a lot of work like you have to set up blogs, write articles and press releases. Another idea is open online shop, can be hard too, because you need to have your shop listed in the first page of search engine like Yahoo and Google. You can pay to be listed on the first page, but can be expensive, if your ad is based on a popular keyword. It is usually called pay per click. Which means when someone click on your site link, you get charged. Your best bet will be Ebay, find out what your are good at, find the product supplier and start selling.
