Get some up to date anti-virus software, any will do, for example clamwin. However, if you’re trying to recover a password, I don’t think you can do that. My understanding is, lose your password, and you’ve lost your data, the only way to recover is to try all possible passwords — which might not take long if you have access to a supercomputer, but if it’s just a laptop or desktop, it would take years and years.
