Are there any features that have vanished from Ableton Live and why?
I hope not! We did overhaul the routing in Live 4 but I have to say I’ve never heard even one complaint. In that case, the older routing was basic and inflexible. The new routing is still simple but also quite easy to achieve complex routings. The only other recent change is we moved a button in the software called the “edit button” This button gives users the opportunity to open a third party audio editor. We changed it and some users are not happy about that. We will put this back on the list of improvements that we weigh and see if we can make everybody happy somehow, but for now it is currently still in the same location. Recently we interviewed a musician who said as software is “improved” and more and more features are added, this often happens at the expense of functionality. How do you balance the need to change with the need to keep the product usable? I hope you ask because you think Live is not like the general software example, where over the years people add lots of featur
