Are there any extra activities besides usual placement commitments?
When the placement and supervisor are confirmed, the student will receive an Introduction Pack in the mail. This will include reading materials about providing psychological services to clients with co-morbid drug and alcohol/mental health issues. It also includes some brief orientation activities which the student is required to complete and discuss with his/her supervising psychologist within the first two supervision sessions. These orientation activities can be claimed as one full day of placement. In addition, the service where the placement is being undertaken may require some orientation and training activities to be completed, but these do not count towards total placement days. Students also need to arrange pre-, mid- and post- placement meetings in which the supervising psychologist, AOD service on-site coordinator and university placement co-ordinator meet together to discuss the student’s progress.
