Are there any experiments that can 100% prove that DNA is the molecule that carries genetic information?
It’s now possible to synthesize entire genes, starting from chemicals. These can be introduced into cells and shown to carry information. Contamination with protein or RNA is essentially impossible, since the DNA was made synthetically. Of course, RNA carries genetic information as well. Some viruses have only RNA in them, no DNA. Viral RNA has also been made synthetically and shown to carry the expected information.
