Yes, a medical exemption is acceptable from a licensed doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy or more recently, advanced practice nurse. A parent/guardian may still request a religious exemption by submitting a written statement to the school or child care center which explains how the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with the student s exercise of religious tenets and practices.
