The best known example of an ISO in the EU is the Scottish ISO for electricity. Since 2005, National Grid operates the networks of the two vertically integrated electricity companies: Scottish Power and Scottish & Southern Energy. Very recently, Poland and Switzerland have established an organizational structure in the electricity sector that also resembles the ISO model.
