One North Dakota tribal council has adopted a formal resolution in opposition to use of the team name; the three other reservations located in the state have chosen not to take a position. The University works closely with the tribal governments in its grant writing for Indian-related projects (UND is currently completing 16 collaborative grant-funded projects valued at $1.2 million that involve formal partnerships with tribal entities). Transfer student articulation agreements are in place with the four tribal community colleges in the state.
