Are there any effective home treatments for haemorrhoids that are safe for use by pregnant women?
First of all, your doctor should examine you to be certain that it is a haemorrhoid and not something else, like an abscess or other lesion. Haemorrhoids, caused by increased pressure during pregnancy, are common and generally not a problem unless they become painful. You can prevent some problems, like bleeding and increased pain, by avoiding constipation. Drink lots of water and eat plenty of high fibre foods, fruits and vegetables. For painful haemorrhoids you can get over the counter creams and suppositories. Check with your pharmacist to determine what creams are safe to use during pregnancy.
