Are there any easy pathways into Medicine or Vet course in Australia?
Medicine and Vet are two completely different careers – so it seems if you are wavering between these two you really are not interested in either of them. Soo many students try to get into Medicine and Vet because they believe it will give them a “status” that they can laud over others. There is a huge dropout rate for medicine AFTER they have the degree because they dont realise the hours they will have to work (12 hour shifts plus on call, never in the same department for more than 12 weeks). When they want to specialise they have to move every 6-12 months – not easy to do if you are married or have children. So they drop out and do something else. Some are only able to stay in if they go Part time and so are earning less than high school teachers (so for people who are in it for the money – they loose out).
