Are there any dogs that are not so bad for people with dog allergies?
Even the supposed “hypoallergenic” dogs can cause a reaction for some people. It depends on the individual dog – i’ve heard cases of people being allergic to supposed “hypoallergenic” dogs and not other breeds (like german shepherd dogs), i’ve also heard of people being allergic to one dog over another of the same breed. If you guys are thinking about getting a dog, then here are a few tips: Get a purebred – as much as i love shelter dogs and as much as i promote adoption, when it comes to allergies you need to be 100% certain of a dog’s traits. You can’t chance that the dog may shed or have bad skin. Look for a non-shedding dog that is not known for skin troubles. Shar Pei’s, for instance, are not good for allergy sufferers because they tend to suffer from dry skin (which produces dander.) German Shepherd aren’t either because they shed buckets.
