Are there any differences between Rough and Smooth Collies?
Smooth Collies, in general, are more energetic, more athletic and agile, more outgoing, and retain more working instincts. Rough Collies, in general, are calmer and more reserved. Some say Smooth Collies tend to be extroverts, and Rough Collies tend to be introverts. Rough Collies require weekly or twice-weekly brushing and combing to avoid matting and occasional trimming to keep their hindquarters sanitary. Both varieties are heavy shedders, so don’t think you can avoid shedding by getting a Smooth!
