Coldplay is in some hot water. Joe Satriani’s lawyers are planning to serve the band with a writ at the Grammy Awards. Satriani, a guitarist from New York claimed in December that the multi-platinum band has ripped off his song If I Could Fly, on their 2008 album, Viva La Vida. Since then, the British band has repeatedly denied the plagarism accusation. Satriani’s lawyer Howard King has reportedly hired a team to follow the band around to serve them with the papers. The band is scheduled to perform at the awards show on Sunday. It is rumoured that King has hired a camera crew to film the attempts to serve the papers. Coldplay’s drummer, Will Champion recently commented on the situation to Confidential. “It’s so far-fetched and ridiculous. But that’s about all we can say at the moment. We’re waiting to see what’s happening but it’s frustrating and annoying and totally unfounded.” The band is nominated with seven awards, including Album of the Year. Sources:
