Are there any complications created by the MB-OFDM proposal to interface with 802.15.3 MAC?
There are no complications in interfacing the MB-OFDM proposal to the 802.15.3 MAC. The service to be provided by the PHY is specified in terms of a Data service (for both Transmit and Receive directions), a Clear Channel Assessment service and a Power Management service. The parameters used to qualify the service operations include fundamental MAC concepts of Channel and Data Rate. The MB-OFDM proposal can be mapped transparently onto the existing PHY service definitions and the standard data structures used to represent Channel and Data Rate have adequate range to allow the set of MB-OFDM T-F codes and possible data rates to be expressed.
