Are there any circumstances that make a medical imaging exam dangerous?

0

Medical imaging is generally safe and painless. The most important safety precautions have to be taken with patients who have pacemakers or ferro-magnetic metals in the body. There are also precautions for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Additional considerations are made for patients who are diabetic or on certain medications. All patients who require an exam with contrast will be required to have a creatinine blood test done prior to the exam. This can be done at our center through the same I.V. line that is used to administer the contrast agent just before the procedure.
