Are there any books similar to Jane Eyre?

“Shirley” by Charlotte Bronte (yes, the same author). Honestly, there must be a million books similar to “Jane Eyre” because it was very popular from the first edition onward. Many writers try to tell a similar story, of a lonely and independent young woman who finds a home and a family without meaning to do so. She just wanted a job with that rich, mysterious, older man–not his love and his kid. “Jane Eyre” was a trend-setter of a novel. It was the pattern for so many cross generational, gothic romances. I couldn’t begin to give you a list of such length. Jane Austen wrote gothic romance, but her writing style is entirely different to Charlotte Bronte’s.
