To ‘I’m Blessed’. I left AA after 12 yrs commited membership. Just to let you know. Although based on Christian religous principles AA’s position in the program is that a real alcoholic must capitulate his will and try to live in God’s will and live by spiritual principles. If you were to look at the 12 steps of AA you will see principles of confession and repentance, although they are Christian in origin and claim to be spiritual rather than religious in order to be palatable to the greatest amount of people. AA does not say that addicts are so forever, they say that addicts cannot return to drinking socially and will not live well without the God of their understanding. Many individuals hook themselves to going to lots of AA meetings. AA in essense will be unlikely to offend any Christian or Muslim who are willing to tolerate each other and see what they have in common. I left because I do not beleive a spiritual cure of any nature is necessary or normally appropriate in addiction.

No I wouldn’t think so because it’s bad for Muslims to reveal their sins to others so that’s why they don’t have this. They may have some anonymous one on one help but probably not in mosque but in another Islamic place, like maybe a conference or something.
