There are plenty of alternate theories. You specifically address one, that Jesus went into a coma and never really died. But there’s a HUGE problem with this. The apostles came away from their encounter with the risen Jesus emboldened and inspired. They were amazed and humbled by Jesus. If he were a near-comatose man who’d been beaten and speared and suffered great blood loss, he would’ve inspired pity. They would have attempted to help him, heal him, comfort him. And a broken and beaten man doesn’t inspire the bold confidence the disciples had. They went to their deaths proclaiming that Jesus had arisen, not recovered from a coma.
