Are there any adults on here with dyspraxia?
I’m an adult with dyspraxia. Dyspraxia causes many problems and frustrations, but I just accept it as a part of my life and don’t usually give it much thought. I’m extremely clumsy and prone to accidents, but I tend to have less problems with that if I just slow down and do things slowly and focus on what I’m doing. It means it takes me longer to get certain things done, but it also means fewer accidents, fewer injuries and fewer broken/damaged/spilled things. I think it’s also important to know yourself well and to know your limits. For example, my dyspraxia gets worse when I’m tired, stressed or unwell, so there are certain things I avoid doing under those circumstances if possible. I’ve learned to be patient and I try to ignore it when other people are impatient with me, but it can be frustrating sometimes, because people are generally not very understanding of the problems caused by dyspraxia.
