Are there any admixtures suitable for high volume of fly ash for normal concrete?
Fly ash generally behaves chemical reactive slower than cement hydrated particular in high volume. So fly ash in concrete will affect dramatically to longer time of setting. Specific admixture should have ability to water reduction from medium to high level and less affect to set time. In generally mid-range types recommend using rate at 300 – 600 ml per 100 kg of cementitious content. By the way, using fly ash concrete should keep much consideration how optimum percentage of fly ash is in one cubic meter. It will better approach if concrete design suits for concerned application base rather than cost-advantage only.
