Are there alternate browsers that offer better internet security features?
Internet Explorer 6.0 is considered to be an outdated web browser for many reasons. For example, Internet Explorer is known to be vulnerable to security exploits. Some spyware and adware take advantage of these problems and end up hijacking the browser or change its settings. Furthermore, Internet Explorer (prior Windows XP Service Pack 2) does not offer pop-up blocking at all. Table 6.0 lists a number of freeware internet browsers you can use. Browsers including Mozilla and Netscape offer features such as tabbed browsing, pop-up blocker, image manager (to block certain images), allows you to change themes (i.e.. change the appearance of your browser), etc. Furthermore, these browsers are always updated to fix known problems/bugs, and to support new innovations, technologies and image formats, including transperacy support for PNG images and MNG animations.
