Are there alcohol and illegal substance issues associated with fraternities and sororities?
As our society grapples with alcohol and substance use issues, and as a part of the larger campus community facing such concerns, Greek affiliated students also deal with these issues. Most students probably dealt with these questions prior to coming to Duke, and have most likely faced these same subjects since arriving on campus. All Duke students must adhere to the University Alcohol Policy, which is available at http://www.studentaffairs.duke.edu/conduct/resources/alcohol. The alcohol policy seeks to promote responsibility and moderation among our students. In addition, campus organizations must register any group sponsored social events through the Office of Student Activities and Facilities. Additionally, these events are self-regulated through the University’s Party Monitor Program.
