Students can participate in international electives in both the first and third world internationally. Many medical schools overseas will take direct applications from U.S. medical students without an affiliation in place. In some instances, students have arranged research projects with an international medical school, but this requires a significant amount of advanced planning. NOTE: The IH Summer Scholarship supports medical student projects in developing countries only.
