Are their any software programs that could alter the wireless card settings?
Yes. If you decide to download or update a program that may change your computer’s dialing properties. For example, a new version of AOL and many chat/messenger programs could set your computer’s default settings to something other than what is required by your wireless card. Try to avoid downloading these type of preference-changing Internet programs unless you are an experienced user. Some Anti-Virus clients that have Internet Security modules may also impair your ability to browse the internet (i.e. Norton Internet Security). Use caution when setting protection levels with these applications. Feel free to stop by the Tech Shop or the help desk for free Anti-Virus alternatives that will not adversely affect your wireless connectivity.
