Are the X-band data and the C-band data processed in a similar manner?
I believe they are. The X-band will be processed by the Germans as the DLR is the one that’s taking the data for the X-band. The United States is using the C-band data, and it will be processed here, but I believe the processing is similar. We also have the Star Tracker on the shuttle. The Star Tracker’s function is to identify individual stars in space and thereby orient the reference of the shuttle, or the payload in this case, to the stars, thereby producing their inertial reference for the position of the payload.
