The varnishes below are based on synthetic resins dissolved in petroleum solvents similar to white spirit. They may be used to varnish both oil colour and acrylic paintings, but brushes must be cleaned with white spirit and if it is necessary to remove the varnish at a later date, this must also be done with white spirit. Conserv-Art Gloss Varnish Artists Matt Varnish Artists Gloss Varnish Artists Original Matt Varnish For painters not wishing to use solvents we supply water based varnishes, consisting of acrylic resins dissolved in water, either for use over acrylic paintings (Galeria) or our water mixable oil colours (Artisan). These can be cleaned up while wet with water and removed from brushes or paintings when dry with Galeria Varnish Remover or Artisan Varnish Remover.
