Are the Vong the “great threat” mentioned in Tim Zahns novels?
chissdude10: No, they are not. Elaine Cunningham says the Vong and Chiss have never interacted before in her novel Dark Journey. However, Tim Zahn has told me off the record that the Vong were the aforementioned threat, but his statement is not credible because Zahn has not written any NJO novels. There is no great threat in the UR. In Zahn’s short story Command Decision we see lots of potential barbarian tribes in the UR looking for a way out, but they seem to have little in the way of military strength. I personally think Thrawn overly hyped the UR, in hope of one day capturing the galaxy through intimidation and propaganda. Whatever the case, Thrawn did not know about the Vong.
