Are the VLAN or trunk ports configured to pass that VLAN?
You can configure two types of VLANs on a Catalyst 1200: bridge VLANs or IP VLANs. To verify that both switch ports are in the same VLAN, use either the show bridge or show ip vlan command. The output contains a table showing the VLAN port assignments. The second column of the table is labeled “Ports”, and shows the ports assigned to each VLAN. Both ports you are trying to connect across must be assigned to the same VLAN. To check which VLANs are enabled on a FDDI trunk port, use the show trunk command.
