The ‘veins’ of a leaf consist of both xylem and phloem vessels. Xylem vessels are found in the middle and carry water up stems and into leaves. Phloem vessels are found around the xylem vessels and carry the sugars and other nutrients made during photosynthesis from the leaves around the rest of the plant.
