A four day school week would be a significant burden on our community because of the added cost of daycare, latchkey, and other child care needs for many WCS families. But more importantly, shifting students’ instructional time to four days per week would create even longer days for them, especially elementary students who are already in school for over 7 hours per day. Condensing the school week to four days would increase the elementary school day to over 8 hours which would limit our ability to offer quality programs.
