Following Lord Bradley’s report on people with mental health in the criminal justice system, the Government introduced two trials of Mental Health Courts, which aimed to get people assessed more quickly. However, up to the end of July, official figures we’ve been given show that of the 1450 people screened, of those only 346 went on to be assessed and just 39 actually received extra support.
