Are the Sinn Fein and Libertarian party on similar platforms, generally speaking?
No. By no means. MUCH more different than alike. Sinn Fein is soft left (“social democratic” – much further left than the American Democratic Party but not Marxist) and nationalist. The Libertarians are “19th century liberals,” hard right on economics, for complete government non-interference, except to suppress labor unions as “criminal conspiracies.” However, they have almost a left-anarchist view on personal conduct issues, like drugs, sex, abortion, and personal weapons ownership. I’d say that with these positions, and along with the concessions Sinn Fein has made to the Church on matters of “morals,” they and the Libertarians are _almost_ as far apart as two political parties can be. Well, Trotskyists and Nazis are further apart, but you get what I mean. EDIT: Sorry, DAR, was genuinely trying to describe what I thought was the truth. If I’m wrong, obviously I have to do some more research. .
