Are the residence halls coed?

All residence halls/complexes are coed living facilities. All individual rooms, suites and apartments are same-gender.

Yes. The only exceptions are Grossmont Hall, which houses just over 100 women students, and California-Founders Hall, where Cal houses 70 male students and Founders houses 90 women students. These two buildings share a common lobby.

Men and women live in all our residence halls. Assignment patterns vary with one gender only being assigned to alternating wings, floors, sections of a floor, or buildings. Some Assignments only alternate by room in facilities like Willkie where semi-private or private restrooms are available.

There are no residence halls at Messiah that are coed by room. In other words, males and females will not be living on the same floor. There are a few residence halls, however, that are coed by wing and by floor. That means that men live on one side of the building, which is separated by stairwells, and women live on the other side. It may also mean women live on some floors and men live on others with each floor being controlled by a security access system.

All of our 12 residence halls are coed, by either suite or wing. Students can elect, however, to live on single-sex floors within the residence halls. Bathrooms and individual suites are not coed!
