Are the recent reports of UFO sightings in UK, true?
The tabloids, in particular the Sun, seem to be running a series of uncritical, credulous reports at the moment. For example, even a brief examination of the facts around the ‘UFO destroys Wind-farm’ story shows that it was a routine accident and the lights in the sky were fireworks, miles away. But no investigative journalism is being carried out at all, it’s all sensationalism. UFOs are seen on a regular basis. As an astronomer I see many objects that I can not identify readily. But unidentified is not the same as inexplicable and certainly does not automatically mean extra terrestrial!
