Are the protesters just against the communist Chinese government ?

0

No. The protesters are not anti-Chinese in any sense. They believe, however, that the Communist Chinese government has grossly distorted the history and culture of Tibetans, Southern Mongolians, Uighurs and other non-Chinese peoples who now live under Chinese domination. Attempts by the Chinese government to portray Tibetan culture as Chinese culture are at the heart of what the protest is about. Furthermore, if the Communist Chinese Party (CCP) ownership of the theme park was being protested, then we would have thousands of CCP owned businesses to protest against in the US, according to US Government figures. The protest is about the propaganda theme park only.
