Are the observers the same as the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP) inspectors?
No, observers are not enforcement officers. Their role is to collect information that cannot be collected in other ways, as well as information specific to onboard operations. The observer will report on observed activities; any information that is used outside the program is collated and not specific to any vessel.
