Are the Murder City Devils a full-time band again?
No, everybody’s got other things doing on. Derek [Fudesco]’s playing with the Cave Singers, Spencer [Moody]’s playing with his band Triumph of Lethargy, and Coady [Willis]’s playing in The Melvins and Big Business. So we don’t plan on being full-time in the way that we were before, but we are trying to make an effort to be more consistent with what we’re doing. When bands reunite after acrimonious break-ups, there tends to be a surge in affection for them upon their return (I’m lookin’ at you, Pixies and Pavement). How does the support from your fans today compare to the support ten years ago? It seems to be a very different thing. I think when we were more of a full-time band, there was an expectation that we’d always be around. So maybe people weren’t quite as excited. It seems like now people are really excited to see us. There are a lot of people at the shows who’ve never seen us before. And the people who come tend to really like the band as opposed to just going to see some band
