Are the melting and flow temperatures of solders the same as casting grain, sheet or wire?
• No. Solders are designed to melt at a lower temperature than alloyed metals, so that the metal does not melt. Solder allows the jewelers to assemble jewelry without melting the pieces together. Our charts on page 175-178 of our catalog show the temperatures for solders. The casting temperatures are shown on page 148-149.
