Are the media a real cause of violence and crime, or do they simply report what they see?

They sensationalise what they see, and make isolated incidents seem like epidemics. I don’t think they are a cause of violence and crime, but they certainly contribute to people’s fear of it. The fact is, as a law abiding citizen you are far, far more likely to be killed by, say, a poor driver than you are to be murdered; but thanks to the media many people are much more scared of the latter.
