Are the Martial Arts losing their individual identities with the whole MMA thing?

No, traditional Martial Arts will always be around. There is a huge problem however where traditional dojos are starting to be outnumbered by fly by night ‘MMA clubs’. The whole premise of MMA should be fighters who have trained in seperate and complete systems and combining them to their individual advantage. These MMA McDojos teach a few basic techniques and advertise MMA as a complete system in its own right, which is not only wrong but also dangerous and pathetic. It is this which is making traditional Arts and Dojo’s lose their identities as young generations come into training thinking that MMA is all there is to the Martial Arts. I have come across people myself who think they are expert Martial Artists because they have done a year or two in a MMA class.
