Are the lower DPI scans inferior quality ?

No not at all. The lower DPI simply means the scanned file size is smaller and that photo cannot be printed as large as the higher resolution scan. The quality of the scan doesn’t change at all.

No not at all. The lower DPI simply means the scanned file size is smaller and therefore quicker to capture and process. The quality of the scan doesn’t change at all, just the size of the final image.
