Are The Jacksonville Jaguars The First Team In NFL History To Have Three Black Quarterbacks On Their Roster?
The quarterbaks currently on the team are starter(for now) Byron Leftwhich, incumbent David Garrard and third-stringer Quinn Gray. All three players saw action last year. Leftwhich suffered an injury in the team’s sixth game of the season, againstt Houston. Garrard Promptly came in and led the team to a 5-2 record over their next seven games. The Jags, however, dropped their next two games againstt Tennessee and New England respetcively, and after falling behind 28-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs, Gray was inserted and was impressive. He completed several passes and ran for two touchdowns. Jacksonville lost the game 35-31 but the effort was inspiring. Leftwhich certainly has the strongest arm, Garrard is the best scrambler and runner and Gray seems to have a good combination of skills. Gray, amazingly enough also looks kind of like a combination of the two men on the depth chart ahead of him.
