Are the ICC really the worst people to run cricket?
Well, as many people have already indicated, the BCCI are probably more in charge of world cricket than the ICC. Not that it matters really, both boards are incompetent and run mostly by people who have no background in cricket (a fair few of them have backgrounds in golf!) and have no idea what the sport is about anyway or have no idea how to run it outside of a business plan spreadsheet. As for Alistair Darling, he’s not fit to run anything. Less than 2 years ago the country was supposed to be in an area of high fiscal growth and we had an economic surplus, despite all of the governments sustained borrowing. Now we’re in a recession (though to be in a recession you only need roughly 2 months of economic downturn with a period of reduced economic activity of something like 0.4% per month [it equates to a GDP of less than 3% a year anyway] and negative stock-market speculation. So technically speaking this recession could have happened at any old time since the threshold of a recession
