Are the historical romances based on historical fact or mostly on fancy?
To date we have published only the historical romances of Aubry Lea Bazan, and she definitely does her research. The story dealing with Caesar’s invasion of Gaul, for example, is based on his own writings (taken with a grain of salt) as well as archaeological finds of ancient Gallic sites. Odelia did exist, she was the daughter of the Swiss chieftain, Orgetorix, and the facts of her life, her father’s and her husband’s are documented. Well written historical romance and historical fiction both follow the facts as documented by primary as well as secondary resources. However, historical fiction has as its “pole star” not romance but the course of history, but there is no human history without some romance! A question about our historical fiction?
