Are the “grid method” and “chunking” just as valid as the old ways?
yes but the problem is when they have several processes to go through it is easy to make a mistake children often can do the chunking multiplication but slip up on the addition of the components it is the same with chunking….they can slip up with the subtraction of the multiples whatever method they use they should be encouraged to use the inverse to double check….
