Are the general public allowed to write to inmates?

yes you can write an inmate you dont know letters You need to have their inmate # and conform to the rules of the jail/ prison–no contraband a certain size white envelope, no lipstick kisses on it, no stickers etc… Also this may or may not be the case with you, so ignore this if it doesnt apply to you…but just as a caution, many inmates write to single- and very lonely women because they want a set up for when they get out. Alot of these inmates are not “new” or “rehabilitated” men. They will tell you how much your letters mean to them and so on and so forth and when they get out — they either con or use the women for money or move on to a woman they previously had relations with but was too f’d up to write them in jail. Just be careful that you don’t let your kindness become foolishness.
