The DSS (Digital Sound Standard) SP (Standard Play) mode is the mandatory and compatible format for professional mobile dictation devices. The Long Play modes are not a mandatory format thus implemented differently per manufacturer. To achieve best sound quality Philips recommends the use of SP recording mode only. The LPm recording format is recommended to extend the recording time if really needed.
