Are the drugs and devices used in Mesotherapy approved by FDA?
Under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938, FDA reviews and approves prescription and nonprescription drugs and medical devices. There are strict FDA rules that dictate what active ingredients can and cannot be used in drugs and what medical devices can be used in treating patients in the United States. Under longstanding FDA policy, a physician may use a drug or a medical device in Mesotherapy (or any other treatment or procedure) only if the drug or device has been approved by FDA and is either being used for the specific purpose for which FDA approved it or for some other medical purpose. If a drug or device has not been approved by FDA for any use in the United States, it is a crime for any physician to use it for any type of treatment or procedure whatever.
